Nobody Cares if You've Never Watched Game of Thrones

With the Game of Thrones finale coming out, I have been noticing more and more people thinking they are special because they purposefully avoided watching it. I never realized how ridiculous I sounded when I would brag about this before I became a fan and it made me realize something... it's annoying as hell.

I used to think I was so edgy and smart for not being enamored with things that everyone else was. I was essentially a "hipster." Looking back this made me miss out on a lot of things because if it became too popular it was basic and lacked substance. I can understand this line of thinking, especially because of oversaturated media, but just because something has a popular base doesn't mean it's overrated.

Before I became a Game of Thrones fan, I remember thinking to myself how wise I was for being able to resist this popular form of culture. This is mainly because I was getting pressured by close friends and family which, in turn, made me stubborn and shun the show. Eventually I was forced to watch the show and even though the first season was slow, it definitely got better with time.

Now that I'm a seasoned fan, when I see people brag about not having watched a single episode I just roll my eyes and move on. I don't think people realize how little fans care if you've watched the show or find it genuinely boring. Somethings aren't for everybody, but trust me when I say that you are not special, you are not the minority, and you will not get a cookie for outwardly refusing to watch Game of Thrones.
